hours ago in san francisco, shots were fired at an undercover police officer. tara moriarty is live to tell us what the suspects left behind that may help police capture them. >> reporter: one woman is in custody here at the mission police station. people are hoping and questioning here she will be able to tell them who the suspects are. the three left behind a car, a gun and a cell phone that they dropped on the sidewalk as they were trying to run away. right now, an under cover police car has two bullet holes in it. one striking very close to where the officer was sitting. luckily he wasn't hurt. about 1:00 to this morning the sergeant was heading near cesar chavez. he noticed a gray sedan that looked suspicious. the people inside of that car fired at him. >> we had a police inspector who was fired upon by suspects. his vehicle was hit at least a couple times here. we do have one suspect in custody from that vehicle. we're searches now to locate at least the other two suspects. >> reporter: the secretary did -- sergeant did not return fire. even though the officer wasn't hurt, i

in san francisco. that will be tonight. all to raise more campaign cash. r & b singer john legend will be on hand to perform. and earlier this afternoon once the president arrives here he also has an event at the intercontinental hotel where alex smith is expected to attend. mr. obama spent yesterday down in l.a. doing fundraising as well. he spoke at a star studded event that included a performance by stevey wonder. his two day event could push the president over the $1 billion mark in fundraising. in september he hauled in a record setting $181 million. now despite his lackluster debate performance, the president last night struck a confident tone at the event. >> but here's the good news is we've got a better vision for our country. we have a better plan for the next four years. >> reporter: and before the president flies up to the bay area this afternoon, he will make a stop into central valley in the town of king, california. that is where he will announce the establishment of the caesar chavez national monument. of course once the president arrives here in the bay area, you

of the chevron fire. it sent thousands of people to the hospital. according to the san francisco chronicle, a small fire and last year there were concerns about the fire in richmond. they told safety workers this was taking a toll on the equipment. >>> time now 603, the national league continues in san francisco. allie, i know the fans expect something different in st. louis. they filed out of at&t park, they kept their chins up and heads held high and many are looking ahead to game 2 at the national championship. now it didn't seem to bother fans too much. cardinals led for the first three innings and finally in the 4th inning, giants made a come back but they didn't get any further than that. the final game was 6- 4 cardinals. hopefully we can take it to game two, but it is disappointing. >> we will be back, guaranteed this is game one, we will be back. >> we are going to get them the next time. >> giants are 0 and 3 at home and 0 and 3 on the postseason. they have hoped for the home field advantage and they get another shot at it today. giants face off at at&t park at 4:30 this afternoo

's cup. crew members had to work into the night to tow it back to pier 80 here in san francisco. crew members will up expect the damaged boat. this is video of the inspection after the crash. the $8 million cata moran cap sized -- capsized during a training run on the bay. 11 members were on board and everybody escaped with just some bumps and bruises. it actually drifted about four miles out into the ocean passed the golden gate bridge. it took several to tow it back in and they were grateful there were no serious injuries. >> if any of the chris were not able to -- if any of the crew were not able to hold on, they would have been injured. >> reporter: the biggest blow is the main mast, the sale which catched the wind is destroyed. have to wait to find out what else was damaged when they actually pull it out in headquarters and i am told that will happen around is sunrise. of course with this boat out of commission it means less training time for the oracle team as they prepare to defend their title. alex savage ktvu channel 2 morning news. >>> 6:03 an alleged carjacker was involved

in san francisco. allie rasmus is at the scene and it looks quiet out there, allie but you have new details? what do you know? >> reporter: well, dave we did talk to a man who watched this fight from his apartment building that overlooks the area, this is where the fight took place. it was 2:00 a.m. this morning when he saw 20 - 30 people involved in a fight right in the middle of the street and the police had to close off the street for two hours for their investigation. based on what he could see, this did not appear to be an even handed brawl. most of the people were attacking one guy. [ speaking spanish ] >> reporter: they were shouting pro fan tis, yelling, kill the guy, kill the guys, this witness explained to us in spanish. they rushed him to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. mother man was also hurt and also went to the hospital. officers do not believe this brawl was gang relate but because of the type of profanity, he believes it was a racially motivated brawl between english speaking latino and spanish speaking immigrants. police have not made any arrests in th
